FEATURE PRESENTATION

Urban Research

Presentation by Mark White, President, Monmouth County Genealogy Society

Learn about how Enumeration Districts, plotting out a district, maps including Sanborn Fire Maps, city directories, vital records, cemeteries, newspapers, photographs and books are key resources for urban research. Mr. White will also discuss repositories for these resources such as court houses and administrative offices that hold vital records, deeds, naturalization records, voter registration records and business licenses. The lecture will also describe using newspapers for more than obituaries, such as photographs from newspapers, magazines and historical photos.

Mark White has been a member of Monmouth County Genealogy Society for 28 years and member of the MCGS Education and Speakers Groups for 12 years. He is in his third year as president of MCGS. He has been researching for 29 years. His family research is mainly focused in Monmouth and Hudson Counties. For the past 27 years Mark has been employed as a project manager in the integrated supply chain industry, focusing on new account set up.
