Accessing GSNJ Collections at the New Jersey State Archives

Due to construction at the Rutgers University’s Alexander Library Special Collections/University Archives, two of GSNJ’s most-accessed collections have been temporarily relocated to the New Jersey State Archives in Trenton, New Jersey for access by researchers. The collections are the Bible and Family Records and the Cemetery Records and Transcriptions.

Access to the Bible and Family Records collection: The printed indexes and bound volumes are located on the shelves in the Manuscript Reading Room. Patrons can schedule either a Microfilm or Manuscript appointment to access the Bible and Family Records collection.

Prior to your research appointment, consult the Bible and Family Records indexes on the GSNJ website.

Access to the GSNJ Cemetery Records and Transcriptions collection: This collection is accessible in the Manuscript Reading Room only. Patrons should schedule a Manuscript appointment to access the GSNJ Cemetery Records and Transcriptions collection.

Prior to the research appointment, consult the Inventory of New Jersey Cemeteries by County on the GSNJ to determine the county and cemetery to be searched.
