2024 Webinar Series Call for Papers

The Genealogical Society of New Jersey invites speakers to submit lecture proposals for the 2024 Webinar Series.

Suggested Topics

  • New Jersey sources, repositories and research methodology
  • Record sets and genealogical sources, repositories, finding aids, ethnic groups, religions, publishing, military records, land records
  • Lectures on methodology and problem-solving
  • Case studies, including DNA-specific case studies
  • Current technologies used for genealogy including DNA, software, social media tools
  • Genealogy standards and genealogical writing topics

Proposal Submission Requirements

Speakers may submit up to five webinar proposals (please include them on the same form). The presentations are scheduled for one hour, which includes 10-15 minutes for questions. Please do not submit proposals for lectures that are already available online or that will be available online in the future. Accepted lectures should not be presented elsewhere in the month prior to the scheduled webinar. Webinars will be archived and made available to GSNJ members.

Proposal Format

Proposals should include the following information:

  • Speaker’s name, address, telephone, email address and social media
  • Speaker’s biography not to exceed 35 words
  • Lecture title
  • Lecture summary not to exceed 50 words
  • Outline of lecture
  • Audience level: beginner, beginner-intermediate, intermediate, intermediate-advanced, advanced, or all.
  • Recent lecture experience
  • Speaker’s honorarium

Deadline

The deadline for submission of proposals is February 20, 2024 by midnight ET.  You may contact the Program Committee at programs@gsnj.org with any questions or comments.
